Printing today is an ever-evolving science that includes considerations of what inks are used and what papers are best. More and more the prints we see are from a process called giclee. Giclee is a digital process that uses a high quality ink jet printer. Usually, high quality, archival inks are used; however, one should always use a UV-filtering, conservation quality glazing to preserve their fine art print. Many giclees are printed on canvas. These prints can be stretched and framed just as you would a canvas. Prints on canvas are usually coated with a UV-filtering varnish, so glass is usually not required so they may treated as a canvas and stretched.

If your art piece has potential value, whether sentimental or monetary, you will want it protected and preserved. Preservation framing materials and techniques are used in a manner that will affect the piece the least and protect it. The framing must be completely REVERSIBLE. If at some time it is to be removed from the frame; it must come out of the frame in the same condition that it went into the frame.
Preservation practices are used in accordance with the Professional Picture Framing Association (PPFA), the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) and the American institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC). New techniques and materials are coming out all the time, and we are committed to staying up- to- date on the latest information on how to best protect your fine art.
